Ladies
Result: Leicestershire 29-15 Humberside
POM Samantha Biddlecombe
Following a great weekend of pool in Great Yarmouth, Leicester Ladies were keen to get a good win at home to Humberside to match our best result of the season against the same opponents earlier this year. Humberside had a few hiccups before the match meaning some late arrivals, only nine players and a delayed start. This seemed to affect us Leicester girls as we got off to a sluggish start, only just scraping the first set 6-5. We bettered this in the second set, taking it 7-4, and seemed to pick up momentum at the end of the third with a great seven frame run to take us over the winning line, and collecting 16 out of 22 second half frames overall. It was a good and big result for us although some basic mistakes crept in and we were hoping for better against a team short of two players.
Samantha Biddlecombe played some awesome pool to win maximum frames, and was well deserving of the player of the match award. Julie Tailby also won four, with Stacie Ackland, Lucy Bell, Teresa Blair, Emma Senior and Michelle Brown all chipping in with three apiece.
The result takes us to second in the league table with one to play.  Notts have a game in hand and are likely to finish top with S Yorks second after the disappointing news South Yorkshire had beaten Notts 27-17 (no offense girls!), but we are in with a chance of pipping them with another heavy win away at Lincs in December and depending on how their results go… So come on girls let’s keep our heads up and go for it!!

Match Reports: Notts v Leics

Ladies
Result: Nottinghamshire 17-27 Leicestershire
Leicestershire Ladies started the day in third place in the Region 8 table, level on points with South Yorkshire but trailing by 13 frames. This fixture is always one we strive to win but also know it’s always been a tough battle in previous years, and especially this season where Notts are undefeated and took a massive 25-19 victory over us in May.
We were well up for the challenge though, knowing our chances of making the National finals in March could rest on this result.
As expected the first half of the match was a close affair with the foxes edging it 12-10, but then the girls really stepped on the gas in the third leg, where we have been guilty of slacking in the past, storming it 8-3. We took the first two frames of the final set to guarantee the draw but with a massive nine frame advantage we realised this could be the best result we have ever had versus a usually solid Notts team! We took five of the remaining nine frames to seal a massive win!
Captain Michelle Brown was delighted with the performance:
“In the build up to the match I urged all the girls to find that team spirit we have lacked a little and to really get behind each other, especially in the second half, where we have lost momentum in previous matches this season. I knew how crucial the result was for us today and I’m so proud that every player, whether playing or not, really stepped up both on and off the table. There was some excellent play and the support was phenomenal… it made such a big difference, we really kept the Green Army quiet for once!
“What a great way to go into the events at Great Yarmouth next week… C’mon Leicester!!”
Captain fantastic lead from the front once again winning maximum frames, her overall total for the season now at an incredible 30 out of 32 frames won!
Emma Senior took the lady of the match award with three wins, with Samantha Biddlecombe, Charlene Gibson and Lucy Bell also taking three from four.
This week sees Leicestershire Ladies travel down to Great Yarmouth for the Ladies KO cup and National SIngles Championships.
Leicester Ladies (Michelle Brown (C), Teresa Blair, Carolyn Bowkett, Charlene Gibson, Tracey Randall, Emma Senior, Theresa Sheridan & Karen Wesseldine) and Leicester Foxes (Samantha Biddlecombe (C), Stacie Ackland, Lucy Bell, Anita Chapaneri, Donna Elliott, Karen Green & Julie Tailby) will both be gunning for glory in the team event, with most of the ladies also taking part in the National singles.
Former Nationals champion and last year’s semi-finalist Michelle Brown will also be representing the Leicester TNPL in the ladies Champion of Champions singles.

Youth
Result: Nottinghamshire 12-32 Leicestershire
